- The "modem" is a leased line NTU (Network Terminating Unit) and is probably
- synchronous only. The buttons apply loopback tests (Local or Remote) and
- put it in normal (online) mode. If it is sync, it won't work on a PC
- com port!

- If you are trying to use it as a general purpose modem you are out of luck.
- All it will do is connect to a leased line, it is a completely "dumb" device.
- The behaviour you describe is about what one would expect.

- If the NTU is connected to a leased line and is in "Normal" mode you should find
- yourself connected to whatever is at the "other end" of the leased line.
